They Flew the Coop

It’s November in Wisconsin ya'll and that means it's time for our hens and rooster to Chicken Dance themselves from their summer coop on over to their winter coop condo.

From May to early November, our chickens free range over 2 acres of fenced in pasture, but once the cold and the snow starts rolling in, we move everyone to the wintering coop that consists of an 7 ’x 11’ inside area with nesting boxes, heated waterer, feeder, roosts, dust bath box and daily access to a 8’ x 20’ outdoor covered run.

While there is a bit of adjusting going on, overall they seem to like the change in scenery and we like knowing they are all snug through the cold and snowy months.
